Sea Freight Roll On Roll Off and Over Dimensional Cargo.

If your cargo is over dimensional or cannot fit into standard  20 ft or 40 ft sea freight  containers and if it  can be efficiently moved by rolling. Then Roll on Roll off shipping may be suitable for your cargo movement.

Roll-on/roll-off (RORO or ro-ro) ships are sea freight  vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo such as  auotmobiles, trucks, semi-trailers or railroad cars that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels.  These types of vessels have the capability to set a ramp at dockside, bow or stern and roll on most types of wheeled cargo.

Whilst smaller ferries that operate across rivers  and other short distances often have built-in ramps, the term RORO is generally reserved for larger ocean-going vessels. The ramps and doors may be stern-only, or bow and stern for quick loading.
This is in contrast to lo-lo (lift-on/lift-off) vessels which use a crane  to load and unload cargo These lo-lo types of vessels are very important in ports that do not have shore based loading cranes available, such as in many developing countries.

How are the freight charges calculated when shipping by Roll-Roll off cargo?

Roll-Roll off freight is charged on the cubic meters of your cargo or kg weight ,if the weight of the cargo is greater than the cubic meters of the cargo.
Important tip When shipping roll on roll off  cargo and or by disassembling, assembling or consolidating into unit loads and achieves lowering of the height, width or length which  will reduce the  cubic meters of freight being sent, you lowering the freight cost and saving $$$
